Date of Origination: July 13, 2000 For Your Information:! One of the most innovative and useful tools to hit the implant industry has been the advent of CT Scanning Technology. When radiographic images moved into the third dimension, they afforded us a view that most had not seen before, increasing our awareness of the structures of the head and neck. We have learned a lot during the past decade about this new technology, many of us climbing the learning curve at different rates of speed and to differing heights. When it was possible to go from the still CT Scan image on film to an interactive version when SIM/Plant was introduced, we were able to view the third dimension in a new and substantially improved manner. These new tools have allowed us to develop more accurate treatment plans based upon significant advances in our ability to diagnose the existing bone for possible implant placement. We have learned about the cases we should do, and the cases we should never touch. Interactive CT Scanning technology has improved our vision and our execution of the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry. The future is here and that is evident by the fact that additional companies have entered into the arena. During the past few years I have played a role in being an advocate of these innovative high tech tools which has made it easier for me to exist in the world of implant dentistry. My lecture schedule and postings on my website have made it possible for me to communicate with doctors and interested parties from all over the world who are interested in the areas of interactive CT scan technology. I have been approached to play a more active role, and to this end I have decided to formalize another discussion forum. For the purpose of acting as a world resource in the area of CT scan technology I have decided to start a new forum called the, "SIM_Plant Users Group" open to anyone and everyone who wants to learn, or express ideas related to this growing field. This forum will NOT be sponsored by any group or company although it is identified with a particular brand name. I believe that the term SIM/Plant has become almost as generic as Xerox for making photocopies. There is no corporate sponsorship, this is a private list. This forum will be as interesting and diverse as our potential members want it to be. My contribution will be to manage and run the the list, and offer whatever advice and assistance that I can when needed. I expect many "experts" to want to be a part of this list, and participate freely in an effort to continue to "push the envelope" and the implant industry. It is with this long winded note, that I offer all of you the invitation to participate and join this new list. To do so, all you need to do is send an e-mail message to: SIM_PLANT-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST@home.ease.lsoft.com In the body of the message type the following: SUBSCRIBE SIM_Plant (Your e-mail address) To See Previous Case Presentations Go To: Case Plan One: http://www.drganz.cncdsl.com/SIM_plant/Caseplan1.htm Case Plan Two: http://www.drganz.cncdsl.com/SIM_plant/Caseplan2.htm Case Plan Three: http://www.drganz.cncdsl.com/SIM_plant/Caseplan3.htm This forum is open to any and all comments, and I thank you in advance for your patience while we build another useful, educational forum. If you want to learn more about CT scans, interactive CT, improving your diagnostic and treatment planning abilities, and the future of our profession, sign up! I hope you will participate. Tell a friend! Best regards - Scott D. Ganz, DMD
